When comparing the youth shoe fad of the 80’s to that of the 90’s there was a clear winner. In the 90’s you had those boring reebok pumps that made people yawn, if not fall asleep completely when you walked by. But in the 80’s you had the highly stylish, intensely eye catching, uber high tech LA Gears’ LA Lights!!! Everytime your foot hit the floor the imbedded red LED light would flash and it was like a shot of adrenaline to the heart of everyone in viewing distance. If they brought those back today George W. Bush would have to raise the national security level from “Green” to “Holy Shit, LA Lights are Back!!!” That’s an actual level too, don’t believe me? Ask Jesus. He’ll tell you. If nothing else these light-up shoes at least got kids up and walking around instead of sitting in front of the TV. Granted, those kids tried walking with their body’s contorted and twisted enough to try and see the lights in the back of the shoes light up, and then probably walked into a wall and broke their back. Needless to say, any shoe that lights up is awesome (unless you’re running away from a stalker on a dark street, they know where you’re going). The only kind of shoe that could be better is a shoe that blurts out nostalgic references every time you take a step. *step* “Pogs!” *step* “The Goonies!” *step* “Slinky!”
